Videatur Community Film Program 2024

Applications are open for the Videatur Community Film Program 2024. This youth-led project consists of a series of virtual workshops on the fundamentals of filmmaking culminating in the creation of the participant’s own short films. This project specifically serves first-time filmmakers and artists from QTBIPOC+ communities.

The program benefits include:

  • Participants will engage in 13 online workshops with industry professionals, teaching you every aspect of basic filmmaking, including writing, directing, casting, lighting, camera, and much more!
  • Workshops will be taking place virtually every Sunday from January 7th to April 7th, excluding a 3-week period designated for production.
  • Opportunities to meet and network with working film professionals + industry showcase for your short films at the end of the program season!

Funding

  • Four first-time filmmakers will be granted $1,000, equipment support from Charles Street Video.

Eligibility

  • The program is free of charge and open to Toronto residents aged 18-29.
  • This project specifically serves first-time filmmakers and artists from QTBIPOC+ (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, People of Colour) communities.
  • They are defining first-time filmmakers as individuals who have yet to receive external funding for their project(s).
  • Previous participants are not eligible to apply.

Application

To submit an application for this year’s program, ensure you have the following items prepared:

  • Outline or rough draft of script or pitch deck.
  • An idea of how you’ll be using the $1,000 (could be rough budget or paragraph description).
